John is a native of Adelaide, South Australia, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Adelaide. He is a fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. John is currently President of the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy and previously held that position from 1981 to 1982. He is also Chairman of the Discipline of Geology and Geophysics Industry Liaison Committee, University of Adelaide and a member of the TRaX Advisory Board at the same Institution. Mr. Roberts is also an ex-offico Member of the South Australian Minerals and Petroleum Expert Group whose members act as ambassadors to accelerate investment in South Australia’s resources sector. John is a councillor of the South Australian Resources and Energy Sector Infrastructure Council (RESIC), serves as a Director on the board of the Mineral Resources and Heavy Engineering Skills Centre Inc (Resources and Engineering Skills Alliance (RESA)) in South Australia, and is a member of the South Australian Government’s Resources Industry Development Board.
He first worked for Broken Hill South Limited during the period 1956 to 1969 and was Chief Geologist, Metallics and Administration when he left that company. During 1970 to mid-1977 Mr. Roberts served as Director of Exploration Samin Limited and then as Chief Geologist and Associate Director of Poseidon Limited (which had acquired Samin). John joined Homestake Gold of Australia Limited (then Homestake Australia Limited) in 1977 as Manager and became Vice President and Manager in 1981. Mr. Roberts transferred to the United States in 1982 as Manager, Joint Venture Exploration and Development for Homestake Mining Company (the parent company of Homestake Australia) in addition to holding the position of Vice President and General Manager of Homestake Gold of Australia. He returned to Australia in 1984. He directed the company’s expanding gold exploration and development programmes from 1977 including the public float of the company in 1987 and its involvement in the formation of Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd in 1989. He served as Managing Director of Homestake Gold of Australia from 1987 and stepped down in July 1993 after 16 years with the Homestake Group during which time Homestake Gold of Australia’s gold production increased from less than 40,000 to over 360,000 ounces per year.
John was Chairman of Ballarat Gold Fields NL, an Australian publicly listed gold exploration and development company, from mid-1997 to October 2002. He also served as a Director of Nord Pacific Limited from 1994 to early 2004 and as Chairman of that company for just over two years of his term as a Director. Nord Pacific was involved in copper production in Australia and held an advanced gold exploration project in PNG as well as exploration interests in Australia, Mexico and Canada. Nord Pacific was headquartered in New Mexico, USA with an office in Sydney, Australia. John was also Chairman of Directors of Australian Resources Limited from 1993 to 1997 and a Director until early 1999. Australian Resources was an Australian listed gold and copper producer and explorer.
John was Chairman of Directors of Mithril Resources Limited, an Adelaide based, publicly listed, exploration company from 2002 to 2012. He was also Chairman of Rum Jungle Resources Limited, a successful, Darwin based, publicly listed, fertiliser minerals explorer from 2007 to 2012.

Mark specialises in Business Improvement and redesign, Advisory Boards, Non Executive Directorship, Organisational Strategy, General Management and Sales & Marketing Strategy. He has a strong focus on operational safety and the ability to develop and implement strategic business plans. Mark will direct and delegate as necessary, preferring to manage people for performance using MBO techniques to align personal and organisational gaols with objective performance measures.
Mark is committed to mentoring and counselling and has a thorough understanding of development and management of systems/processes, enabling higher organisational performance levels and transparent reporting of KPI’s. Mark has significant experience identifying and reporting of key success factors for implementing and driving business plans. He is able to achieve budgetary and other corporate objectives through ongoing liaison/negotiation with key staff, suppliers, clients, potential and current strategic partners.
Mark has a good understanding of Safety, Quality & Environmental Management fundamentals and systems. He has pragmatic, deal making abilities and pursues win/win outcomes to drive new business opportunities. His understanding of critical issues such as IP protection, freedom to operate and leveraging of IP allows him to create successful commercial outcomes. Mark has a good understanding of manufacturing and supply chain fundamentals and the business processes needed to achieve and maintain a cash efficient business and customer supply expectations. He has an excellent understanding and track record of success in Sales and / or Marketing Management. Above all Mark is committed to working as part of a team to achieve objectives.
